There are two costs to you:
1. The student’s allowance
You need to pay a training allowance to the student. This needs to cover their basic accommodation and living costs. The amount is up to you, but is typically around £495 to £800 per month, with the average being around £700. It’s often higher in high cost locations such as London. As you might expect, generally speaking the higher the allowance – the more students apply.
We do not feature unpaid or very low paid placements as we believe this is unfair to students. This is part of our guarantee to our students: all placements will carry a decent training allowance.
Normally there are no NI or minimum wage considerations: Students of British Universities, EU students under the Erasmus scheme, and students on the Youth Inaction Programme are outside the UK National Minimum Wage regulations. However you are of course perfectly free to pay them the national minimum wage, or indeed more if you wish to. As previously stated, the higher the allowance – the more students apply.
2. Our fee
Like most recruitment companies, we work on a results-only basis: we only charge a fee for a successful appointment. Our fees vary depending on the payment arrangement you opt for, and the duration of the placement.
In most cases we ask for an initial commitment deposit. This is so that we secure your commitment to our process and to selecting a top quality student in the shortest time possible. Deposits are refundable in full in the event that we fail to present suitable candidates.
In all cases we offer a free replacement guarantee in the event that a student leaves, or is asked to leave, within the first month.
There are 2 options:
Option 1: Deposit, then discounted balance on arrival
This is our lowest cost option. In order to keep prices to an absolute minimum we ask for an initial commitment deposit. This is so that we secure your commitment to our process and to selecting a top quality student in the shortest time possible. Deposits are refundable in full in the event that we fail to present suitable candidates. Then the discounted balance is payable when the student starts with you.
We offer our normal free replacement guarantee. So we will replace a student free of charge in the event that a student leaves, or is asked to leave, within the first month.
• Placements up to 6m in length: £1494
– (equivalent to £249 per month for a 6m placement)
• Placements of 7-12m in length: £2988
– (equivalent to £249 per month for a 12m placement)
• The initial commitment deposit is £249
Please call or email for further details.
Option 2: Full payment on arrival (no deposit)
If you prefer not to pay a (fully refundable) deposit, then we can offer this service. Here you simply pay our fee if you successfully recruit. If not, then you pay nothing at all. And as with Option 1 our normal free replacement guarantee applies. So we will replace a student free of charge in the event that a student leaves, or is asked to leave, within the first month.

Why do we charge a fee?
Placement UK is a commercial business, not a government agency or charity.
And like most commercial recruitment businesses, we work on a purely ‘results-only’ basis: we only get paid if we succeed in placing a student with you.
No hay – no pay, as they say.
However unlike most undergraduate placement agencies, our service is provided FREE to students. We feel this is only right. Many of our competitors charge the students, who can least afford it. That’s not fair.
We provide a high quality and very intensive service that matches companies and undergraduates very well. We use people to do this (not computers). We know this sounds a little old fashioned, but it works best that way. But of course it costs money to deliver such a service.
We talk to you to find out exactly what you want. We advertise the vacancy to students and require them to make a specific application. (We don’t just fish them out of a database and hope they are interested). And we personally interview all candidates – to sort the ‘wheat from the chaff’, and find the perfect person for you. We manage the whole process and make it very easy for you. And because we have such extensive contacts and have been around since 2001, we tap into the quantity AND the quality required to satisfy just about any request.
We think you will agree its solid value for money.
